About Us
Who We Are
Together We Grow, the recognized leader in pediatric care, was founded in 1988 as The SpecialCare Center. With the opening of the second campus in 2000, the company name was changed to Together We Grow in recognition of our inclusive program. We are now the largest pediatric day health care program in California.
Our state of the art facilities offer an environment that fosters self-esteem, yet challenges each child to reach his or her full potential. Children learn to empathize with those who are different and to accept others who often face similar challenges. The low adult-to-child ratios, along with the caring staff and nurturing environment, provide an unparalleled pediatric day health care experience.
Our History
Throughout our history, Together We Grow has been a pioneer in supporting state and federal legislation for pediatric day health care. An example of our successful efforts is California State Senate Bill 126. In that bill, the State of California recognized for the first time the plight of medically fragile children and their families
Our Philosophy
Nurturing Environment
Together We Grow's mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for promoting the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative development of young children. We believe that the sharing of information and insights about the individual child's needs benefit all involved. We believe children develop positive self-esteem when adults treat them with dignity.
Individual Attention
Each child is unique and special. Our center promotes optimal growth and development in an educational and nurturing environment. Special adaptations are made to ensure each child's participation in our programs. Our goal is to provide a place where children are accepted for who they are as individuals, and are challenged based upon their own abilities. We achieve this through early childhood experiences in which children learn to respect others for their differences as well as their similarities.
Support & Love
A typical child who attends Together We Grow will benefit from low adult to child ratios, a sense of empathy toward people who are different, learning how to accept others, as well as themselves, in spite of any challenges which they may face. Children who learn in the Together We Grow environment also gain a sense of positive self-esteem. Everyone around them is supportive and loving, and challenges them to their full potential.
Our Staff
Our staff includes Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), and fully qualified Infant and Preschool Teachers. This team of professionals have your child’s best interest in their heart. The staff have experience working with typically developing and medically fragile children alike. Each center has a Center Director who manages not only the day to day needs but also the long term needs of the staff and their facility.
Our Registered Nurses have a variety of roles which includes Administrators, Case Managers, and Supervisors. You will see the RN working in the classroom, checking children into the center, hiring and supervising staff, along with enrolling new medically fragile children into Together We Grow. The Licensed Vocational Nurses are part of the backbone of the nursing care for your medically fragile child. Nursing care will include not only meeting the medical needs such as medication administration, or respiratory treatments, but will include being a part of the social environment for your child.
Our Certified Nursing Assistants provide crucial care to all the children, whether that child is typically developing or medically fragile. The CNA is a bridge in any classroom, whether it be assisting the nurse with a medically fragile child or helping the teacher with activities, outside time, or meals. The Infant and Preschool Teachers provide the educational direction for the children in their care. They create the curriculum and daily plans such as art and group activities that help your child grow in a developmentally appropriate atmosphere.
