Congratulations Preschoolers!

We are exceptionally proud of this year’s graduating students.  We are so excited for the progress our preschoolers have made and are confident in their ability to take on kindergarten.  This is a time for our kids to shine as we present them with merit awards for their individual strengths and achievements and see them off to the next stages of their lives.   Oceanside’s graduation ceremony takes place June 28th at 4 pm.  San Diego will celebrate on June 29th at 4pm.  We congratulate our preschoolers and look forward to seeing their future triumphs.

Our Medically Fragile Weekend Program is here to provide parents with the opportunity to temporarily take a break from their role as primary care giver. Parents can rest assured that their children with be in a safe, fun environment with skilled nursing care available 24/7.

“I have confidence in the program and the staff. Because of this, I can get much-needed rest and recuperation without worry.” - Cheryl Hoslain

June’s Shining Star

Togather We Grow

Ready to “graduate” to kindergarten, Matthew has been with Together We Grow since he was six months old. Born with cystic fibrosis, Matthew had to spend the first several months of his life in the hospital. As time passed and Matthew’s mom, Jessica, prepared to return to work, she knew it would be difficult to find a day care center that would accept Matthew with his disabilities. After seeing an ad for Together We Grow, and after calling and touring the facility, Jessica knew she had found the right place for her son. Since his time at Together We Grow, Matthew is now better prepared to go into kindergarten. Growing up with typical and medically fragile children, he understands how to be around a diverse group of people and feels comfortable with himself. As a child whose walking and talking skills have been set back by his cystic fibrosis and the consequential surgeries and physical therapy, Matthew has made incredible progress, much to the delight of his teachers, who nominated him to be June’s Shining Star. Jessica is grateful to have her son in a place that always made sure he felt like a normal kid and nurtured his strengths, a place that held his spot when he required medical attention, visited him when he was in the hospital, worked out financial issues, and put her at ease so she could go to work everyday without any worries. As Jessica notes, Together We Grow is a place that does not point out the differences between the children, but recognizes that there are children there with specific needs and is staffed to take care of them while teaching acceptance.

Getting to Know Together We Grow

Together we grow

Janet comes to us with an unusual background. Referring to herself as just a big kid, Janet calls her past work “playing with critters,” or, more scientifically, a wildlife biologist. Looking for a career change, she began her work at Together We Grow as a preschool teacher. Touched by a disabled girl she met at the Oceanside facility, Janet decided to stay at Together We Grow. She went back to school to get her special education teaching credential so she could further her career at Together We Grow. Citing her choice to stay with the company as one of her best decisions, Janet is now head of operations at the Oceanside site. To vary the day-to-day routine of her job, Janet loves to spend time in the classrooms. Seeing the progress the children make, beating the odds and especially watching these individuals surpass their parents’ expectations is what Janet finds most rewarding about her work at Together We Grow.

A San Diego resident for 25 years, Janet enjoys scrapbooking and gardening. An avid swimmer and scuba diver, she also loves spending time with her two children and, of course, playing with critters.
